Our partner in Durban, South Africa - indigenous music leader Victor Sithole
2024!
We have a whole host of exciting projects coming up this year - here are a few projects, events and performances coming up:
Treneer Summer sessions 2024
We'll be providing a drumming circle at our friends Whole Again Communities' "All fired up" cooking events throughout the school holidays in Treneer Estate, Penzance (funded by Penzance Town Council)
St.Ives September Festival 2024
We're putting on six events this year: Sea Junk Jam (Sunday 15th), Full Moon Drumming (Tues 17th) Songs from the Core (Friday 20th) and Songs of St.Eia (Monday 23rd). Plus our join-in global music sessions at the Kettle and Wink on 11th and 18th. Details can be found in the festival programme.
Kernow-Zulu Connection
We've been collaborating with indigenous music leader Victor Kabile Sithole and a primary school in Kwazulu Natal province, South Africa. We fundraised to buy 30 pairs of school shoes, a donation celebrated by the pupils in a livestream performance of their traditional music and dance.
Victor has since drawn on his own traditions and the hard realities of life in rural South Africa to present a wider perspective of our song "These Shoes" - poetic, resonant and compelling. We're dying to get this finished so we can share as soon as possible!
In the meantime, Victor and his firends are now bringing their magic to a new version of our song "Where Sunbeams Fall"
Tall-tail Tom (film)
We're working with incredible St,Ives artist Fred Williams on another animated film! This one is about the (possible) dark origins of a famous St.Ives riddle - all to an original soundtrack featuring the purring of numerous local cats. Due to be premiered at our "Songs of St.Eia" event on September 23rd 2024.
A short spin-off film, "Tom's Tall Tail", will be released at the same time, featuring numerous submitted photos of cats from around the town; again to an original soundtrack
The Promise (film)
A story of "what goes around comes around" during life's bumpy ride. Currently in production, with an original soundtrack featuring Sylvie and Treve Nicol on vocals. Perhaps appropriately, this has turned into a stop-start project, reflecting our own ups and downs - but it'll happen!
Your support and contributions of any amount will enable us to meet our current goals. Generous donations will fund our next mission.
