Our partner in Durban, South Africa - indigenous music leader Victor Sithole
2025!
We'll be starting the year in style by playing at the St.Ives Community Foodshare meal on 11h January.
Bagas an Norvys
At St.Ives Town Council's request, we're putting the band together for Feast Day 2025 - this year to be held on Monday 10th February.
CORE Studio Sessions
We'll be providing open-ended, have a go music sessions for St.Ives teenagers from Jan to March at the Orchard's new CORE building.
St.Just Schools
We'll be working with St.Just Primary and Cape Cornwall Secondary schools for the second time, providing creative writing and music composition sessions on the themes of celebrating friendship and cultural diversity.
New Wood Symphony
We're continuing our work with four groups of young people from North Cornwall at our new Symphony Woods site, Inspired by immersive visits to the woods and the moor, participants have already made a great start towards composing a new piece of music in symphonic form.
Sea Junk Jams
We're developing a new programme of these events to roll out across Cornwall during the Spring/Summer
Dobles Wall
We're collaborating with some St.Ives friends to produce a new version of this classic John Barber song. With his daughter and son in law on the team, this promises to result in a wonderful film, including views of some classic archive images.
Lights of St.Ives
A new song about fishing in St.Ives, with a proper local vocal turn by our friend Katrina Geraghty. Another opportunity to celebrate St.Ives heritage - we're lucky enough to have access to some new vintage photographs that will be included in our films.
Kernow-Zulu Connection
We've been collaborating with indigenous music leader Victor Kabile Sithole and a primary school in Kwazulu Natal province, South Africa. We fundraised to buy 30 pairs of school shoes, a donation celebrated by the pupils in a livestream performance of their traditional music and dance.
Victor has since drawn on his own traditions and the hard realities of life in rural South Africa to present a wider perspective of our song "These Shoes" - poetic, resonant and compelling. We're dying to get this finished so we can share as soon as possible!
In the meantime, Victor and his friends are bringing their magic to a new version of our song "Where Sunbeams Fall"
Tall-tail Tom (film)
We've just completed our second animated film with incredible St,Ives artist Fred Williams. This one is about the (possible) dark origins of a famous St.Ives riddle - all to an original soundtrack featuring numerous local cats. Premiered at our "Songs of St.Ia" event on September 23rd 2024.
Tom's Tall Tail (film)
A spin-off from the above, this short film was first aired at the same time, featuring numerous submitted photos of cats from around the town; again to an original soundtrack.
Both films are set for wider release in 2025.
The Promise (film)
A story of "what goes around comes around" during life's bumpy ride. Currently in production, with an original soundtrack featuring Sylvie and Treve Nicol on vocals. Perhaps appropriately, this has turned into a stop-start project, reflecting our own ups and downs - but it'll happen!
Your support and contributions of any amount will enable us to meet our current goals. Generous donations will fund our next mission.
